Elms 85, Lesley 72

CHICOPEE, Mass. — Elms College junior guard Justin Davis (Dix Hills, NY) poured in a collegiate career-high 39 points, including a school-record 11 three-pointers and the Blazers overcame a two-point halftime deficit to pull away to an 85-72 win over Lesley University in Wednesday night’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

The Blazers (13-6, 8-1 NAC) recorded their 11th win in the last 14 games to remain atop the NAC West Division. The Lynx saw their four-game winning streak snapped as they fell to 8-9, 4-4 NAC.

Davis, who was 11 of 18 from behind the arc and 13 of 20 from the field in just 22 minutes, broke Kyle Seyboth’s ’05 school-record of 10 three-pointers set back in 2004.

Davis nearly single-handedly carried the Blazers in the second half, as he scored 30 of his 39 points after intermission, including eight 3-pointers.

Freshman forward Antoine Holder (Hartford, CT) added 15 points and nine rebounds, senior forward Lonnie Branyon III (West Haven, CT) had 10 points and junior point guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) dished out a season-high 12 assists to pace the Blazers.

Lesley, which led 38-36 at halftime, received a stellar 33-point, 10-rebound effort from junior forward Toby Brittian (South Kingstown, RI). Brittian, who is currently the NAC’s second-leading scorer, finished 13 of 17 from the field.
