Wesley 71, Cabrini 66

RADNOR, Pa. — Wesley College (11-9, 9-4) defeated conference opponent Cabrini College (9-11, 6-7) by a final score of 71-66, in men's basketball action on Wednesday night. The win completes Wesley's first sweep of Cabrini in conference play. Wesley put four Wolverines in double-figures being led by Rashawn Johnson's (FR, Selbyville, DE/Sussex Tech) 22 points and 7 rebounds. Tyrell Brown (JR, Randallstown, MD/Randallstown), Mike Wright (FR, Dover, DE/Dover) and Nick Minor (SR, Gambrills, MD/Arundel) added 14, 12 and 10 points respectively in the win. "I was pleased with the character that our team displayed tonight in the win. We played against a very good Cabrini basketball team and we were fortunate to came away with a victory," said Wesley head coach Jerry Kobasa.

Wesley never led in the first half and only tied the score at 2-2 early in the game. Cabrini held its largest lead of the half at 27-12 with 8:52 to go in the half, before Wesley went on an 18-10 run to pull within 37-30 going into halftime. The Cavaliers pushed its lead to 45-32 after a Randy Reid (SO, Philadelphia, PA/Monsignor Bonner) 2-point basket, with over 15 minutes to play in the game. Cabrini continued to lead throughout, until Wesley's Wright drained a 3-point bucket with 2:01 remaining. Minor then came down for Wesley and hit a foul-line jump shot to give Wesley its only lead (66-64) that it would never relinquish the rest of the way, with 1:17 left on the clock. The Wolverines were 5-of-6 from the foul-line in the final 15 seconds to secure the win.

Wesley shot 25-of-61 (41%) from the field and committed only 12 turnovers in the game to Cabrini's 20. The Cavaliers, the top-rebounding team in the conference, out-rebounded Wesley 42-30.
