Albright 86, Moravian 71

READING, Pa. — Albright spotted Moravian an 11-point halftime lead, then roared back to take an 86-71 win over the Greyhounds Wednesday night in the Bollman Center. The win puts the Lions into a three-way tie atop the Commonwealth Conference with Messiah and Widener, who all sit at 6-3. Elizabethtown could also be 6-3 pending the outcome of their contest with Susquehanna. Trevor Deeter led Albright with 21 points, and surpassed the 1,500 point milestone for his career. Deeter now has 1,519 career points, placing him 11th on the Albright career scoring list behind Terron Buchanon, who finished with 1,560.

Zach Zsilavec scored off the opening tip for Moravian, and the Greyhounds never trailed in the opening 20 minutes. The Greyhounds built a 9-4 lead, but Albright came back and tied the score at 11 five minutes in. Moravian pushed the lead out to seven points, 27-20, on a Ryan Miller three with 9:11 left in the half, but again Albright stayed close, cutting the lead to three at 28-25. The Greyhounds then scored nine unanswered points to take their largest lead of the night, 37-25 with five minutes remaining until halftime. Albright trailed by eight, 41-33, with a minute left on the clock, but Zsilavec drained a three to end the scoring in the half and send the visitors to the locker room with a 44-33 lead. Moravian shot s blistering 58% from the field in the half, and was 5-12 from long distance. Zsilavec led the Greyhounds with 11 points, while Deeter and Mike Boles each had six for the Lions.

Deeter opened the scoring in the second half with a lay-up, but Ed Reid answered with a jumper to maintain Moravian's 11-point edge. Then the barrage began for the Lions. Albright pounded the ball inside, and Deeter and Lee Walter took over for the Lions. Albright ran off 17 unanswered points, 11 from Deeter and four from Walter in the paint, to turn a 46-35 deficit into a 52-46 lead with 14:26 left in the game. Mark Franzysh made one of two free throws to stop the bleeding for Moravian, and a Justin Chestnut three got the Greyhounds back within two at 52-50. The visitors would get no closer, however, as Albright scored the next eight points to take a 10-point lead, 60-50, with 11:24 remaining. The Lions would outscore Moravian 31-8 in the first ten minutes of the second half and never let the lead fall below eight points the rest of the way. Albright methodically pulled away over the final 10 minutes, taking a 15-point lead 79-64, on a Deeter lay-up with 2:42 to play, and held that margin until the final buzzer. Albright was 20-30 (66.7%) from the floor in the second half, and scored 32 points in the paint to 10 for Moravian. Albright also out-rebounded the Greyhounds 26-8 over the final 20 minutes.

Deeter had nine rebounds to go along with his game-high 21 points. He was 9-11 from the floor and 3-3 from the free throw line. Walter finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. He also registered three blocked shots. Taylor Steltz had 13 points, nine in the second half, while Matt Kieselowsky tied a career-high with nine assists. Chestnut led Moravian with 18 points on 8-10 shooting, including 2-3 from long range. Reid had 12 for the Greyhounds, but Albright held Zsilavecz scoreless in the second half as he finished with 11.
