In New Haven on Wednesday night the GNAC leading Emmanuel College Saints used a balance scoring attack with five players in double figures to deal Albertus its 16th loss of the season going down 106-84. With just seven players dressing it was obvious the Falcons were going to have to stay with Saints and not play from behind. The Falcons managed to stay with the high powered Saints the first 8 minutes as the Saints were up 21-19. This would as close as the Falcons would get the rest of the way as the Saints went on a 37-21 run to end the half up 58-40. The second half was no different as the Saints coasted to the Final score. The Saints used timely three points shots, 11 of them, and a bruising inside attack that accounted for a 48-24 points in the paint advantage. Leading the way for the Saints was Rob-Williams-Hinton with 26 points going 6-11 from behind the arc with Brian Lindsay scoring 17 and pulling down 15 rebounds. Bobby Leonzo (Fr., East Haven, CT) led the way for the Falcons, who also had 5 players in double figures, with 19 and 12 rebounds for his 9th double-double of the season. Fellow classmates John Donahue (Fr., Southington, CT) had 15 points and 6 assists, Shawn Mendenhall (Fr., Bridgeport, CT) had 16 points, and Adam Hovan (Fr., Ansonia, CT) had 15 points on 7-9 shooting. The four freshman accounted for 65 of the 84 points scored last night as they continue to be the lone bright spot on a struggling season for the Falcons. The Saints improved their record to 13-6 and 11-1 in the GNAC. The Falcons dropped to 2-16 and 2-11 in the GNAC. The loss puts the Falcons in a desperate position for win's. The Falcons are currently 3 games out of the 8th spot in the GNAC. Rivier holds the 8th spot which makes for a must have game this weekend for the Falcons as they travel to Nashua, NH Saturday. A win keeps their season alive while a loss will all but put them out of the post-season.
