The Saints, who fell to 2-3, 0-1, shot nearly 48 percent from the floor in the opening period. They outrebounded the Seahawks 24-15 and forced 16 turnovers. But the visitors turned the tables in the second half – holding the Saints to just 10 field goals, and forcing 14 turnovers.
Meanwhile the Seahawks hit 58.6 percent from the field -- going 17-29 from the field, including 6-10 in the threes and 9-11 from the free-throw line.
St. Mary’s had four players in double figures led by Tyson Lesesne (Edgewood/Edgewood, MD) with 20 points. Dan Englestad (Whitman/Bethesda, MD) and Thomas Bushell (Gaithersburg/Gaithersburg, MD) each had 15 points as the Seahawks moved to 3-1, 1-0 on the season. Valdez Preston (Dundalk/Dundalk, MD) had a “double-double” with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Saints’ leading scorer was Kyle O’Connor (Mt. St. Josephs/Columbia, MD) with 14 points. Bryant Majors (Bishop O’Connell/Alexandria, VA) tallied 12 points and Marc Mazzuchi (West Springfield/Springfield, VA) had 10 points.
The Saints will travel to Catholic University on Saturday for another CAC game. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
