Jesse Hollander added 15 points for the Scots, while Brendan Bosman had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Andy Stein was the third Scots in double figures in rebounding, also collecting 11 for the game. Terrence Robinson-Wilson had a solid all-around game, finishing with seven boards, four steals and three assists.
Bethel (3-1, 0-1 MIAC) had a 20-10 turnover advantage but shot just 27% from the field (18-for-66). Matt Fredrickson came off the bench to pace Bethel with 10 points. Tyson Bjorklund scored eight points and distributed four assists, while Charles Meadowcroft blocked three shots.
Bethel jumped out on top 10-3 but the contest was tight for most of the way after that until the Scots staged a 15-3 run between the 9:50 and 4:34 marks of the second half to turn a one point deficit (43-44) into an 11 point lead (58-47). The Royals cut the lead to margin a couple of times after this but never got closer than that. Conboy had six points and Nate Assel (Fr., Eagan, Minn. / Rosemount) scored five during the decisive Mac rally.
Macalester returns to MIAC action Saturday (Dec. 3) when it hosts St. Thomas. Bethel returns to the court Monday (Dec. 5) at home against Augsburg.
