Baruch 88, Farmingdale State 87

Farmingdale, NY — Baruch put together another strong performance in the second half to defeat Farmingdale, 88-87, in a non-conference game played Wednesday night in Farmingdale, New York.

The Bearcats (5-1) trailed 80-65 with 4:59 left after a pair of free throws by Farmingdale's DaShawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant), but then started a stunning run outscoring their hosts, 23-7, the rest of the way for the comeback win.

George Kunkel (Glendale, NY/Archbishop Molloy) scored the winning basket on a tip-in with eight seconds left. Carl Emengo (Brooklyn, NY/Canarise) preserved the victory with a block of a Warren shot with one second remaining.

Louis Karis (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) was held scoreless in the first half, but exploded for a game-high 21-points in the second half.

Kunkel finished with a career-high 20-points, while Cheick Fadika (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Petit) brushed off a slow start to finish with 16-points and nine rebounds.

Farmingdale started the game on fire by hitting 9-of-12 three-pointers in the first half, but struggled severly late in the second stanza, despite leading with a cushion of 87-75 with 2:56 left.

Warren finished with 25-points, while Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) had a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds.

Baruch will return to action this Friday night with their conference opener at Hunter College. Tip off in the Hunter Sportsplex is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
