The teams would tie each other three times, but Simpson mounted another charge, taking a 72-65 lead with 2:13 remaining in regulation when Scott Ellens tipped in a miss. Loras fought back. Luke Slater hit a three from the left side to make it a four-point game. Jake Oeth made it 72-70 on a tip-in with 1:13 to go in the frame. Jason Parkinson made 1-of-2 free throws with 21 seconds to go. The Duhawks went for the quick two as Bobby Stineman drove uncontested to the lane for the layup to post a 73-72 score. Greg King fouled Ryan Hittenmiller who converted both of his free throw attempts to make it 75-72. The Storm took a timeout to set up their defense.
Loras countered with Stineman setting for the game tying three with six seconds to go. Simpson called a timeout, but could not get a shot off, sending the game to overtime tied at 75.
Simpson scored the first nine points of overtime, highligted by a Brett Cermak three. Loras would work the lead down to five when Stineman hit a pair of free throws with 14 seconds remaining in the game, but that would be as close as the Duhawks would get. Hittenmiller made 1-of-2 free throws to make it the final 89-83.
Hittemiller led all scorers with 23 points. Jason Soppe charted a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. He was 9-11 from the field. Soppe also led the Storm with four assists. Adam Thorson tied his career high with 16 points. Scott Ellens scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Parkinson had 11 for the Storm.
Stineman led Loras with 18 points. He was 6-for-10 from the field and 4-for-6 from three point range. Slater scored 16 and had eight rebound. Kyle White had a double-double of 14 poitns and 10 rebounds (eight offensive). Jake Oeth scored 13 while Scottie Braden added 11.
