Keene State 81, Colby-Sawyer 80

CONCORD, N.H. — Keene State's David Sontag hit a three-pointer with three seconds remaining to give the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team its first loss of the season, 81-80. The Chargers drop to 2-1 on the year, while the Owls improve to 4-0.

Josh Carter hit a three-pointer with a minute left to give the Chargers a 79-76 lead. The Owls cut the margin to one, 79-78, on a pair of free throws by Nick Drouin with 28 seconds left. At the other end of the floor, Matt Spanos missed the front end of a one-and-one, but Collin Bray picked up a steal of Matt Hickey with 15 seconds left. Sean Sullivan fouled Bray, who went to the line and hit the second of two shots, setting up Sontag's last-second heroics.

Carter scored 19 points to lead the Chargers on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor, including hitting 4-of-5 from three-point range. Bray and Andrew St. Clair both added 12 points for the Chargers, while Matt Spanos scored 10. St. Clair also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

For Keene State, Sullivan scored a game-high 27 points to lead three players in double figures. Drouin added 14 points, while Anthony Licitra scored 10.

Colby-Sawyer returns to action on Thursday, traveling to Brunswick, Maine, for a 7 p.m. contest against Bowdoin.
