Ferrum 68, Davis and Elkins 61

FERRUM, Va. — Freshman guard Wayne Ford had a game-high 19 points as Ferrum College picked up a 68-61 non-conference men's basketball win over visiting Davis & Elkins College.

The win is Ferrum Head Coach Bill Tharp's first collegiate coaching victory. The Senators are an NCAA Division II program, competing in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Ford was 6-11 from the floor, including 1-1 from behind the arc, and went 6-7 from the line. He hauled in six rebounds in 27 minutes of play.

Junior forward Keith Harris had 12 points on 4-8 shooting to go with six rebounds and four assists. Freshman forward added 10 points in the win.

Davis & Elkins was led by Alex Hawkins, who had 12 points, and Bobby Alexander, who had 11. The Senators remain winless with the loss at 0-5. Ferrum improves to 1-4, and will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 3, at NCAA Division I opponent High Point University in High Point, North Carolina.
