Mount Holyoke 65, Elms 36

CHICOPEE, Ma. — Elms College senior guard Karen Prattico (Holyoke, MA) recorded a team-high eight points and three assists, but Mount Holyoke senior center Jonee Billy (New York, NY) netted a team-high 13 points and the Lyons jumped out to an 18-point lead at intermission en route to a 65-36 win over the Blazers in Tuesday night’s non-conference women’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

With the win, Mount Holyoke recorded its third straight victory to improve to 3-1 overall. Elms College lost its third straight game to fall to 1-3 overall.

The Lyons scored the game’s first 11 points in the opening 3:35 and held the Blazers scoreless until a pair of free throws by freshman forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT) 5:57 into the first half.

Sophomore forward Marisa Barone (Ludlow, MA) finished with 11 points and nine rebounds and senior forward Jeanne Powers (Danvers, MA) added eight points and 11 rebounds for Mount Holyoke, which had nine players reach the scoring column in the victory.

Freshman Melissa Prattico (Holyoke, MA) and junior forward Martha Arment (Lee, MA) finished with seven points apiece for the Blazers, who were limited to 25.0-percent shooting from the field.

Elms College opens up its North Atlantic Conference (NAC) schedule at Becker College on Saturday, December 3. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
