McMurry made 39.7 percent (31-78) from the floor compared to 50.7 (34-67) by UTT, which also held the edge on the glass, 43-40.
But the Indians had a balanced offense led by Tee Jay Void and Rommel Colina with 17 points apiece, followed by J.R. Williams with 15, Finlay Brashears had 12 and Elijah Bryant 11. Fred Baker chipped in nine points and pulled down a game-best 14 rebounds.
McMurry trailed 70-60 with 10 minutes, 35 seconds left in the game, capping a 27-16 run with a Williams free throw to go up 87-86. The Indians then made eight of nine free throws in the final 2:34 to seal the win.
UTT's Brandon Weasby poured in 31 points, including eight treys, and Joe Henderson added 17. Patrick Branche (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Brandon Hobbs (16, 12) each posted a double double, but it wasn't enough as McMurry outscored UTT 29-14 from the charity stripe.
