St. Olaf 86, Martin Luther 78

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Chad Norberg had a career-high 23 points, helping the St. Olaf men's basketball team to a 86-78 win over Martin Luther College on Monday at Skoglund Center in Northfield, Minn.

Steve Banick added 19 and Mark Bergstrom had 14 points in just 12 minutes in the win.

Cabel Kurtis had 16 of his team-best 23 points in the first half to lead Martin Luther. Kurtis was 5-of-11 and the Knights 10-for-21 from the arc.

The Oles led by just one at the break after Kurtis hit his fourth three of the night at the buzzer. St. Olaf was 23-of-33 from the line in the second half to secure the win.

The Oles were 32-43 from the charity stripe in the game while Luther was just 6-10.

Jon Bain had seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the win.

Martin Luther (0-0 UMAC, 0-4) got 19 points from Nathan Nass, 11 from Jocob Beilke and 10 from Drew Kock.

St. Olaf (0-0 MIAC, 2-1) opens MIAC play at Augsburg at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
