Elizabethtown 83, Neumann 55

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Elizabethtown improved to 3-1 overall with its third consecutive victory in an 83-55 home blowout over Neumann College (1-3) in a non-conference game Monday night. The Blue Jays seized a solid lead early in the game and never looked back, taking a 41-28 lead by halftime and going up by as many as 30 points late in the second half.

Two brothers paced the Blue Jay offense, as Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) led Etown in scoring with 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field, 3-for-4 shooting from three point range, and a 2-for-2 performance from the free throw line. Fellow senior Brad Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) added 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field, and he led Etown in rebounds with six. Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) and Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) led Etown in assists with five each, with Adams scoring seven points and Brizek adding six points. Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) added seven points and four assists for Etown, and Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored seven points as well.

Neumann’s lone double digit scorer was Ronnie Fields (Lansdowne, PA/Penn Wood), who came off the bench to score ten on 4-for-5 shooting from the field, a 1-for-1 performance from three-point range, and 1-for-2 shooting from the free throw line. Andre Wright (Philadelphia, PA/Ben Franklin) led Neumann in rebounds with six, and he scored nine points.

Neumann out-rebounded Etown 36-33 over the game, but Etown shot 31-for-62 (50%) from the field, while Neumann shot 20-for-49 (40.8%) from the field. Elizabethtown stole the ball 11 times and committed just five turnovers, and the Blue Jays tallied 25 points off turnovers against just four for Neumann.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Wednesday, November 30 against Messiah College in the Commonwealth Conference opener for both teams at 7:30 p.m.
