Bridgewater College opened up a double-digit lead in the first half and held off a late rally to defeat Greesnboroo College, 87-79, while EMU pulled away down the stretch to down Lancaster Bible College, 93-67.
Clay Michael, the MVP of the tournament led Bridgewater (2-2) 23 points and seven rebounds in the victory over the Pride. Josh Maupin and Matt Drewer each finished with 17 points for the Eagles. Bridgewater shot 63.5 percent from the floor for the game, including a blistering 71.4 percent in the second half.
Greensboro (2-3) was led by James Newman who hit 7-of-14 three-pointers to finish with a game-high 29 points. Justin Davis added 14 points for The Pride.
Eastern Mennonite (3-1) pulled away in the second half after holding just a seven-point, 40-33, halftime lead. Three Royals reached double figures, led by Brad Parkes with 20 points. Jason Lentz scored 17 points and Jason Sager added 16 for the winners.
Drew Karschner paced Lancaster Bible (4-6) with a game-high 30 points. Tim Feliciano scored 15 for the Chargers and Ryan Carpenter added 13.
Joining Michael on the all-tournament team were Bridgewater’s Maupin, EMU’s Parkes and Sager, Greensboro’s Newman and Lancaster Bible’s Karschner.
