UW-Oshkosh, ranked second in the NCAA Division III by D3Hoops.com, scored six quick points on a pair of three-point baskets by Andy Jahnke in the first 63 seconds of play. The Titans extended their lead to 15-5 before the Lions scored 14 of the next 19 points to cut their deficit to 20-19 with 7:23 remaining in the first half. UW-Oshkosh went to intermission leading 32-25 as Jahnke hit his third three-point basket of the period just two seconds before the break.
The Titans (1-1) scored the first 14 points of the second half to take a 46-25 lead with 14:47 to play. UW-Oshkosh maintained a lead of 20-plus points for the remainder of the contest, with its biggest advantage being 31 points, counts of 69-38, 71-40 and 80-49.
Jim Capelle collected a double-double for UW-Oshkosh, totaling 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Titans also received 13 points from Kyle Johnson and 12 each from Jahnke and Matt Miller. Jahnke and Miller counted all of their points on four three-point baskets.
UW-Oshkosh won the game despite shooting just 39.1 percent (25-64) from the field. The Titans made 12 three-point baskets in the game and posted advantages of 45-28 in rebounds, 15-6 in assists and 12-20 in turnovers.
Finlandia University (1-2) shot 38.3 percent (18-47) from the field, but just 21.1 percent (4-19) behind the three-point line. The Lions were led by the 23 points and six rebounds of Tyler Lloyd and 10 points and six rebounds of Ryan Artley.
