Eastern Mennonite 83, Greensboro 72

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Brad Parkes led four players in double figures with 20 points as Eastern Mennonite University defeated Greensboro College 83-72 in the first day of the Don Glick Invitational at Bridgewater College on Saturday night in Bridgewater, Va.

Parkes, a sophomore from Winchester, Va., led all players with 20 points for EMU (2-1). Junior Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds as well as three steals. Sophomore Korey Whiting (Stafford, Va.) had 15 points, four assists, three steals, and three boards. Senior E.J. Arrington (Staunton, Va.) added 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

James Newman (Burlington, N.C.) led Greensboro (2-2) with 20 points and three steals. Michael McDuffie (West Patterson, N.J.) added 18 points and four assists. Justin Battle (Charles Town, W.Va.) contributed a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, and three steals. George Green (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had 10 points and four boards.

Both teams shot the ball well with the Royals shooting 53.8% from the floor, including 5-of-6 from three-point range. EMU also hit 22-of-32 free throws for 68.8%. GC shot 53.6% from the floor with just one three-point field goal made. The Pride went 11-for-17 from the charity stripe. EMU led 39-32 at the half.

EMU will continue action in the Don Glick Invitational on Sunday with a 2 p.m. game against Lancaster Bible College.
