Ruths was 10-of-11 from the free-throw line as he eclipsed his previous career-high of 19 points against Simpson on Nov. 19. Senior Scott Stone added 18 points, while senior Mike Grunst added 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Bears led 60-57 with 18 seconds left when John Parsons of CMS hit a three-pointer and was fouled by junior Neal Griffin. Parson missed the ensuing free-throw to keep the score tied at 62-62. The Bears did not get a shot off before time expired sending the game to overtime.
Stone hit two key jump shots in overtime, while freshman Sean Wallis added four free throws to seal the victory for the Bears. The Bears shot 51.1 percent (23-of-45) from the field and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from three-point range.
Washington University (2-2) returns to action Sat., November 26 against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in the final game of the David Wells Classic. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. (PST).
