Frostburg State 79, Waynesburg 64

FROSTBURG, Md. — Despite an 11-2 run over an almost six minute stretch at the beginning of the second half, the Yellow Jackets lost 79-64 at Frostburg State. Later in the period, the Bobcats responded with a 15-2 run to put the game out of reach. Junior forward Jeff Nero lead all players with 19 points, as Waynesburg fell to 1-2 this season.

Nero connected on 4-of-9 three three-pointers and 6-of-17 overall attempts in the contest. Through three games this season, the junior forward is averaging 19.3 points/game and a team-high 5.7 rebounds/game.

Frostburg started the game with a quick start, taking a 14-2 lead in the opening six minutes. Despite the Waynesburg run in the second half, FSU maintained the lead throughout the entire game.

The Bobcats collected 19 offensive rebounds in the game, helping them hold a distinct advantage in second chance points, 20-8. The FSU bench also provided key baskets, scoring 45 points, including a team-high 18 by Brian Green, Jr.

Green was joined by fellow reserve Brandon Howell in double digits, while starter Daniel Ryley posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

After the Thanksgiving holiday, Waynesburg returns to action for its home opener on Tues., Nov. 29, when it hosts Pitt-Greensburg for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. The Yellow Jackets have won six of the previous nine meeting against the Bobcats, including last season's contest, 57-52, despite shooting less than 30 percent.
