Fairmont, WV — The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Men's Basketball team faced the tough challenge of playing NCAA Division II power Fairmont State University Tuesday night. The Bobcats, however, did not shy away from the challenge and played the Falcons tough in a 98-85 loss. Pitt-Greensburg took the game to Fairmont State from the tip and built a 10-point half time lead, but were unable to hold on and were outscored 62-39 in the second half. The loss drops Pitt-Greensburg to 1-2 on the young season.
Leading the way for the Bobcats were senior Duke Cooper (Reston, VA/South Lakes/Robert Morris) and junior Bill Scavincky (Irwin, PA/Penn-Trafford), who each scored 21 points, while Cooper also added a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore Daniel Waajid (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh Central Catholic) contributed 12 points for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats will return to action on Tuesday, November 29 ,when they travel to Waynesburg College to face the Yellow Jackets. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM tip-off.
