Elmhurst grabbed a quick 4-0 lead in the opening 30 seconds and never looked back. The Bluejays built an 11-point lead at 16-5 before St. Norbert managed to chip the lead down to five points at 20-15 with 10 minutes to play in the first half.
Elmhurst responded by closing the half with a 28-11 run to take a 48-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Bluejays shot a whopping 80.8 percent from the floor (21-of-26) including 6-of-7 from 3-point range (85.7 percent).
St. Norbert shot 44 percent in the half (11-of-25) and just 22.2 percent from downtown (2-of-9).
Although the Bluejays' shooting slipped dipped slightly in the second half, Elmhurst continued to pull away, opening up a 39-point advantage with a 21-4 run to start the opening six minutes of the second half.
The Bluejays finished the game shooting 68 percent (34-of-50) from the floor and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from 3-point range.
St. Norbert finished at 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the floor and 11.1 percent from downtown (2-of-18).
The Bluejays had a distinct advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Green Knights 41-15.
Chris Martin led the Bluejays with 20 points and six rebounds in just 23 minutes of action. He finished shooting 10-of-12 from the floor. Chris Ihlenfeldt finished with 18 points in 19 minutes, connecting on 7-of-8 shots, including 3-of-4 from downtown. Nick Michael finished with 14 points and six boards while Evan Patchett had 13 points and five rebounds. Brian Lee added seven points and five assists.
St. Norbert was led by Nathan Zepnick's 11 points. Ryan Finneke came off the bench to finish with 10 points.
