Colby 93, Lesley 90

WATERVILLE, Maine — The Colby College men's basketball team came back from 12 points down with 2:55 left in the game to pull out a 93-90 victory over Lesley University in non-conference play Tuesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Lesley (1-1) went ahead 88-76 on a 3-point shot by James Parker (Sandwich, Mass.) with 2:55 remaining. The Lynx still led 90-82 when Anthony Drayton (Roxbury, Mass.) nailed two free throws with 1:40 remaining.

Colby (1-2), though, scored the final 11 points of the game. Drew Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) hit a lay-up with 1:28 remaining, Nate Dick (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored on another lay-up with 1:18 remaining after a Lesley turnover, and Andrew Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) nailed a 3-point shot with 1:03 remaining to make it a 90-89 game.

After a turnover by Lesley with 53 seconds left, Nick Farrell (Aspen, Colo.) hit a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left to give Colby its first lead of the second half at 91-90. Cohen then blocked a lay-up attempt by Toby Brittian (South Kingstown, R.I.), was fouled on the rebound and then nailed two free throws with seven seconds left for the final points. The Lynx missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Cohen finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots. Jenkins had 19 points (5-for-7 from 3 point range) and added three assists, Farrell had 18 points and seven assists, and Dick added 10 points, six rebounds and five assists. Preston Decker (West Newton, Mass.) came off the Colby bench with six points and seven rebounds.

Drayton led Lesley, a talented first-year program, with 31 points and six assists. Brittian played just 20 minutes because of foul trouble and still had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Parker was 6-for-9 from 3-point range and had 20 points.
