After spotting Beloit an early 5-2 lead, the Augustana Vikings went on a 15-1 tear over a stretch of 4:35 and jumped out to a 17-6 advantage. That spurt fueled head coach Grey Giovanine’s team to a 72-52 non-conference victory over Beloit on Tuesday, November 22 at Flood Arena in Beloit, Wisconsin. The lead dipped back to eight (21-13) with 11:49 left in the first half but when Rick Harrigan nailed a pair of free throws at 10:53 the margin went to 10 (23-13) and it never dipped into single digits again. The Vikings hit .704 (19-27) from the floor in the first half and led 45-29 at intermission. Although they cooled off a bit in the second half, they still managed to shoot .485 (31-53) from the field for the game. Harrigan led the team with 20 points while Jay McAdams-Thornton dropped in 13. Drew Wessels had a nice game from his point guard position, scoring nine points on four of four from the floor, including one of one from three point range, with three rebounds, five assists and three steals. McAdams-Thornton grabbed eight rebounds as Augustana won the rebounding battle by the tune of 35-28.
