The Sat. consolation game win over the Cardinals came thanks to superior outside shooting from Stephen Harris (’09, Watervliet / Watervliet HS) and high-percentage inside shots from the team’s center, Steven Zavackis (Carthage / Carthage HS). Harris finished the game with 14 points and went 4-for-9 from the three-point line. Zavackis, who went 9-for-13 from the field, finished the game with a double-double, recording a team-high 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
York’s Shayne Smith led the Cardinals with a game-high 21 points on a 10-for-20 night from the field. The Cardinals, who lost to The Oswego State Lakers in the second of two opening night games, stared their season 0-2.
No statistics were provided by the host institution for the first Wildcats game against Skidmore.
The Lakers defeated Skidmore 77-55 in the championship game to take the invitational crown. Oswego State moves to 2-0 on the year and their next game will be the Wed., Nov. 30, 2005-2006 season home-opener for the Wildcats. Game time is slated for 7:00 PM in Cazenovia.
