That might be what one would suggest about the John Jay College of Criminal Justice men's basketball team as the Bloodhounds were made quick work of in their season opener falling 86-44 at Division I Wagner College on Saturday night.
The host Seahawks, who are ranked second in the North East Conference (NEC) preseason poll, jumped out to a 4-0 lead early and led wire to wire en route to victory. Wagner built a 25 point lead by halftime (49-23) and the undersized Bloodhounds failed to mount any significant rally against the much bigger Seahawks before dropping the 42 point decision.
Victor Raspaldo (Bronx, NY/ John F. Kennedy) was the only Bloodhound to break the double digit barrier in scoring as he led John Jay with 12 points and offered a team-high 5 assists.
Fellow teammates Aramis Ramos (Washingtonville, NY/ Washingtonville) and Robert Pierce (Brooklyn, NY/ Benjamin Cardozo) contributed with a team co-high of 5 rebounds a piece as the Bloodhounds were out rebounded by a 44-23 margin.
John Jay will return to action on Tue. Nov. 22 for their home opener against St. Joseph's-Patchogue at 7:30 p.m.
