ERIE, Pa. — Wesley College (0-1) lost to Penn State-Behrend (1-0) by a final score of 77-75, in the season opener for the men's basketball team on Saturday night. Wesley will play St. Lawrence University at 1:00 in the consolation game of the Penn State-Behrend Tournament. Wesley held a 6-point lead with 6:13 remaining in the first half, before the Lions held the Wolverines to only 3 points the rest of the half. PS-B went into halftime up 43-35 for their largest lead of the half.

Wesley went up 56-55 off a lay-up by Rashawn Johnson (FR, Selbyville, DE/Sussex Tech) to give Wesley their first lead of the second half. The Wolverines would tie the score one more time and pulled within 1 on a 2-point basket by Johnson with 16 seconds remaining. The shot was initially called a 3-pointer for Wesley and would have tied the score at 76, before the officials reversed the call. Wesley had one last chance to force overtime, but the Wolverines could not convert on two last shot attempts.

Johnson led Wesley with 30 points, 4 steals and 3 assists, with Nick Minor (SR, Gambrills, MD/Arundel) posting 19 points, 4 steals, 3 blocks and 3 assists. Wesley forced the Lions into 28 turnovers to the Wolverines' 13, while the PS-B had a 39-31 advantage on the boards.
