Hopkins will face the home-standing Mustangs in the tournament championship on Sunday night, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Villa Julie (2-0) earned the right to play in the final game by mounting a comeback win in double overtime over Washington College (1-1), 100-93.
In the game's final 3:30, the Green Terror outscored the Hopkins, 14-8, but could not force the Blue Jays into enough misses at the free throw line to pull closer. Hopkins knocked down six at the line during that stretch.
Pacing the Blue Jays was junior forward Matt Griffin, who was one of four Hopkins players to score 10 or more. Griffin scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, pulling down four rebounds. Hopkins also got a career-best 15 points from junior forward Chris Morley, who made 5-of-7 attempts from the field, and hit on 5-of-8 tries from the free throw line.
Hopkins racked up 20 assists, as senior Jeff Thompson collected six while freshman Scott Weisenfeld posted five.
For the McDaniel, three scorers got into double figures, including freshman guard Ryan Finch with a game-high 21 points. Finch led all scorers with five three-point field goals.
