The first half saw the hosts jump to a quick 7-2 advantage on a couple Lenny DiMaria free throws and five points on two field goals from Junior guard Bobby Black. Eastern pushed the tempo, but the visiting Eagles were up to the challenge early pushing right back with athletic drives to the basket and solid offensive rebounding. Up 27-17, the eagles went on a 23-13 run to end the half to push their advantage to 20. Highlighting this run was a beautiful assist on the break from Kenny Neal to Senior forward Bryan Nadelhoffer and eight points in a minute on two threes and a couple free throws from sophomore shooter Matt Flanagan.
Up 50-30 at the half, the Eagles had twelve points from DiMaria, thirteen from Black, and ten from Flanagan. Chyress Knox led the way for Maryland Bible with ten points. Eastern hit 6/14 from three point range while Maryland Bible had yet to find the range at 0/6.
The second half saw more fast paced action as Black exploded for 20 second half points in just over twelve minutes of action. As Eastern stretched their lead, the game got a bitragged as both teams were in the bonus in the first ten minutes of the half. Maryland Bible found their way to the line, but could only manage to shoot 10/19. Eastern hit on 16/21 foul shots in the second half and 26/32 on the game to take advantage of their guest's fatigue.
In hitting the century mark for the second time in twenty hours, the Eagles put just three players in double figures for the game. Black led all scorers with 33 and was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Dimaria and Flanagan hit for 14 and 16 respectively. Maryland Bible, led by Emil Curry with twenty, put four players in double figures, but could not match Eastern's depth as the rest of their roster combined for just eight. Eastern picked up 49 points off the bench and put together an impressive 22-13 assist to turnover ratio for the game.
Coach Nadelhoffer said of the game, " We still have things to work on, but I feel that we have a good team chemistry and the ability to put points on the board in a hurry. Bobby (Black) was special tonight, and Flanagan gave us another guy with more points than minutes played. We looked a little tired, but I liked the pace of our game and was pleased with our foul shooting. This is a good start for us going into our first conference game."
Williamson Trade held off Valley Forge Christian to take the Consolation game. Justin Dempsey from Williamson Trade joined Sam Plater and Curry from Maryland Bible and David Volpe and DiMaria on the All-Tournament team. The Eagles return to action Monday night with their Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Opener at Immaculata.
