Chicago 63, Colby 53

CHICAGO — Clay Carmody scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Chicago to a 63-53 win over Colby in the first round of the ninth annual Midway Classic Saturday at the Ratner Athletics Center.

The win marked the 100th for Head Coach Mike McGrath during his seven-year tenure at Chicago. McGrath now stands at 100-56.

Chicago trailed 37-35 at the intermission, but held the White Mules to 16 points and 21.7% field goal shooting in the second stanza.

Colby led 53-52 with 4:26 left in the game before the Maroons closed out the contest with an 11-0 run. A pair of free throws by Brandon Woodhead gave Chicago the lead for good, 54-53, at the 3:52 mark.

Nate Hainje added 11 points for the Maroons.

Andy Jenkins paced Colby with a game-high 18 points.
