MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Katie LaGrave (So., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) hit three 3-pointers and scored 21 points, adding three rebounds and three assists, to lead the Augsburg College women's basketball team to the championship at the Alverno College Tip-Off Classic with a 77-64 victory over Northland Baptist Bible College (Wis.) on Saturday afternoon.MIAC

Rachel Cherry (Sr., Rosemount, Minn.) scored 19 points with five rebounds and Rosinta Stromquist (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS), voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player, had 10 points and five rebounds.
After shooting 50 percent from the field in an 88-55 win over host Alverno on Friday night, the Auggies continued their strong field-goal shooting, converting 48.4 percent (30-of-62) from the field in the game. Eleven of Augsburg's 12 players saw playing time in the game, and nine players scored.
Augsburg is now 2-0 on the season, while Northland Baptist Bible is 1-1. The Pioneers were paced by Katie Babcock, who scored 32 points with seven rebounds, while Rachel Woodward had 17 points and eight rebounds.
Augsburg ran off to an 11-2 start to the game in the first five minutes of play, eventually stretching the advantage to as many as 13 points in the first half, before leading 26-20 at halftime. LaGrave had 10 points in the first half, while Stromquist had six points.
NBBC cut the lead to three points in the first three minutes of the second half, but could get no closer. A 10-3 run gave the Auggies a 43-32 lead with 12:42 left in the second half, and Augsburg stretched the lead to as many as 19 points down the stretch.
Augsburg again took advantage of opponent turnovers. Augsburg scored 32 points off of 30 NBBC turnovers, while the Pioneers could score only 19 points off of 32 Augsburg turnovers. Augsburg also outrebounded NBBC by a 45-31 margin.
Michelle Richter (Fr., Chaska, Minn.) had nine points, three assists and five rebounds for the Auggies, while Brietta Schluender (Fr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) had six points and five rebounds. Kristina Lurken (So., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS), named to the All-Tournament Team with Stromquist, had five points, five assists and six rebounds.
Augsburg returns to action with a nonconference game at Northwestern-Roseville next Saturday (11/26) at 5:30 p.m.
