Majzlik hit 9 of 13 shots for the Gators, while Casey McCloskey (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) hit 6 of 11 shots for 13 points, good for second on the team.
The Gators trailed by six points early in the game, before chipping away at the deficit, and eventually taking a lead with 3:49 to play in the period. The rest of the half was back and forth, as the Gators and Wolverines went into the locker room tied at 31.
The Gators erupted to start the second half, out-scoring the hosts 11-4 to start the period, taking a seven-point lead, as Allegheny did not trail the rest of the way, increasing their lead to as many as nine, as nine provided the final margin in the 73-64 Gator win.
Majzlik led all scorers with 20 while McCloskey had 13. Sophomore Larry Sharp (North Wales/Germantown Academy) and freshman Ryan Hollihan (Saxonburg/Knoch) each scored 11. Matt Phillips was the lone Wolverine in double figures with 15, as two others, Shawn Carr and Ryan Gerber each ended the game with nine points.
Majzlik pulled down a team-high six rebounds, as the Gators out-rebounded Grove City 32-31 in the game. Bill Babe (Pittsburgh/Mt. Lebanon) dished out four assists to lead the team, while McCloskey picked up a game-high three steals.
The Gators next take the hardwood on Saturday, November 19 when they play against the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson College with tip-off set for 6:00 at Carnegie Mellon.
