Furman 100, Macalester 58

Greenville, S.C. — Furman rolled to a 100-58 win over the Scots in the '05-06 season-opener for both teams Friday night in Greenville, South Carolina. This was Mac's first game against a Division I opponent since knocking off Yale 90-82 four years on this same Furman University court.

Robby Bostain scored 18 points to pace the Paladins. Jadee Jones added 15 off the bench, all in the second half, and Stanley Jones pumped in 14 points. Bostain scored eight points in the first seven minutes as Furman jumped to an 18-6 lead.

Tom Conboy (So., Chanhassen, Minn. / Minnetonka) paced Macalester with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Brad Liddell (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill. / Central) scored 14. Nate Assel (Fr., Eagan, Minn. / Rosemount), playing in his first collegiate game, dished out six assists, and Jesse Hollander (Jr., Katmandu, Nepal / Bend (Ore.) Mountain View) grabbed nine of his team's 33 rebounds.

The Paladins led 42-24 at halftime and put the game away with a 16-0 run to go up 67-34 with 12 minutes to go.

Macalester has home games Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 21-22) with Wisconsin-Stout at 7:30 p.m. and Northwestern College at 5 p.m.
