With the win, the Blazers (1-0) advanced to the Saturday afternoon’s 3:00 p.m. championship game to face Wheaton College, which defeated Albertus Magnus College 67-38 in Friday night’s second game.
Senior forward Danielle Dugre (Holyoke, MA) registered a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and sophomore guard Raemarie Josefiak (Springfield, MA) added 13 points and four assists.
The Blazers, who led 29-23 at intermission, limited the visiting Trailblazers (0-1) to just 28.3-percent shooting from the field.
MCLA junior guard Lisa Ranzoni (Lee, MA) led all scorers with a game-high 23 points, including five 3-pointers, while junior guard Kristen Lewis (Johnsonville, NY) In the second game, Wheaton College (1-0) pulled away from a nine-point halftime lead to earn a 67-38 win over Albertus Magnus College.
Junior forward Kim McCormack (Milton, MA) netted a team-high 12 points and freshman forward Krystin Hickey (Manchester, NH) added 11 points for Wheaton, which led 26-17 at intermission while holding the Falcons to just seven first half field goals.
Junior forward Candace Young (Hartford, CT) led all scorers with 16 points for Albertus Magnus (0-1).
