Lesley 83, Eastern Nazarene 64

QUINCY, MA — (11/18/05) - The Lesley University Men’s Basketball Team competed in the first ever men’s varsity sporting event in school history on Friday night. Nobody knew what to expect when the Male Lynx took the floor against Eastern Nazarene College, but interest levels were very high. Before a thunderous crowd of several hundred people the Male Lynx made the most noise by beating the Crusaders 83-64.

Toby Brittian (South Kingston, RI) scored the first basket in the program’s history. Brittian went on to score the first seven points for the male lynx, dominating the interior of the paint. When the Crusaders began to focus exclusively on Brittian, James Parker (Sandwhich, MA) connected on his first four three point attempts, showing everyone how multi-dimensional the Lynx were.

The Lynx jumped out to a double digit lead but surrendered it halfway through the first half. However, they were able to pull away after the Crusaders made their initial came back, and went into the intermission up 49-32. It was more Brittian in the second half who added 11 points, and finished with 21 for the game. Anthony Drayton (Roxbury, MA) added ten points in the second half and finished with a game high 23 points.

The Crusaders were led by freshman Ricord Jean-Noel (Montreal, QC) who had 16 points in 25 minutes. Captain Luc Jasmin (Pawtucket, RI) and Ryan Seaberg (Cheyenne, WY) added 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Lynx were able to jump out in front so easily by shooting over 54% from the three-point line in the first half, and by going 11-12 from the foul line. The Lynx finished the game shooting 49.2% from the field, 44.4% from three land, and 93.8% from the charity stripe.

The Lynx look to continue their winning ways against Colby College on Tuesday, November 22nd. For game times and locations or any other information on the Male Lynx please go to http://lesley.edu/services/student_activities/sports_mbasketball.html .
