A closely contested first half turned into a second half rout as the Crusaders never trailed after the 11:03 mark in the first half when they took an 18-16 lead.
Five straight points by junior guard Brian Alge spurred a 16-6 Crusader run that spanned five minutes and gave them a 36-26 lead.
Capital led by as much as 10 towards the end of the first period, but Thiel crawled back to cut the lead to 43-37 at the half.
The Crusaders pulled away in the second half, leading by as much as 16, before ultimately winning the contest 92-79.
Poor free-throw shooting from the Tomcats down the stretch (10-20 in the second half) did not help their cause as they could not cut the lead to below double-digits.
Sophomore forward Steve Kyser and freshman guard Nate Stahl each poured in 23 points on the night and also grabbed eight and seven rebounds respectively.
Alge chipped in with 16 points and three assists, while sophomore forward Brad Buckner added nine points and five boards.
Ross Watson and Damien Williams paced Thiel with 14 points a piece in the loss.
Capital moves on to the championship game tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. against Lake Erie, while Thiel will take on Kenyon at 4 p.m. in the consolation match.
Lake Erie defeated Kenyon 69-46 in the first game of the evening.
