Calvin led the entire first half but a 6-0 run to end the half cut the Knight lead to 44-34. Sophomore guard Jaszmine Eugene was a one-man show scoring 18 first half points to keep the Choctaws in the game. The New Orleans native knocked down 10-16 shots from the field and finished the night with a game high 22 points.
MC went cold in the second half as the Knights led by as many as 21 points. The Choctaws made just 10-35 second half shots for a 28 percent shooting percentage. They did knock down 5-10 three point attempts and three late three-pointers closed the gap to 69-55 with 4:12 remaining. Two free throws from Ricky Shilts ended a 6-0 Choctaw run and ended an MC rally.
The biggest factor in the game was rebounding where Calvin held a 40-29 advantage. The Knights outrebounded MC 21-8 in the first half with ten coming on the offensive end. They connected on 4-7 three pointers.
MC freshman forward Tyler Winford scored eight points and grabbed a team high five rebounds. Lonnie Vasquez also finished with eight points.
Dan Aultman scored 13 points for the Knights to go with the 16 from Roelofs. Aultman also grabbed a game high eight rebounds.
Calvin shot 51 percent from the floor and made 6-15 three point attempts.
