Oswego State 85, Hobart 55

OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Oswego State men's basketball team secured a spot in the ECAC Upstate Tournament Final as the Lakers defeated visiting Hobart by the score of 85-55 on Friday, March 4th at Laker Hall.
The top-seeded Lakers will face SUNY Athletic Conference rival Brockport in the finals as the seventh-seeded Golden Eagles advanced with a lopsided 94-61 win over Skidmore.
The championship is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5th.
The win also improved Oswego State's record at Laker Hall to 14-0.
The hosts never trailed with the lone tie coming at two. The Lakers steadily increased its lead leading 24-12 by the midway point of the half. Oswego State carried a 45-25 advantage into the intermission.
Things continued to go the Lakers' way in the second half as they led by as many 33 points thanks in part to a blistering 71.4 shooting percentage from behind the 3-point arc.
Oswego State (24-6) had tremendous offensive balance in the win with six players hitting double figures. Dave Ponza (Solvay) led the way with 15 points with Nick Perioli (Liverpool) adding 13 points and nine assists. Mat Burridge (Hannibal) contributed with 12 points, while Ahmad Mims (North Syracuse) and Ben Oliver (Batavia) each scored 11. Erik Roberson (Buffalo) rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Lakers with 10 points.
Oswego State finished the game shooting 11-of-17 from behind the arc for 64.7 percent.
For the Statesmen, Mike Mastro (Westbury) scored 12 points and Joe Flacke (Schenectady) added 10.
Hobart concluded the season with a record of 16-11.
Brockport 94, Skidmore 61
The Golden Eagles (18-9) got off to a fast start and never looked back as they scored the first eight points of the game and went on to a 33-8 lead with eight minutes remaining in the opening half. Brockport went on to post a 49-30 lead at the half.
Things continued to go Brockport's way in the second half as they led by as many as 40 at 86-46.
Ben Bellucci (Syracuse) led the winners with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Brandon Williams (Rochester) added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Dana Martin (Stowe, VT) was Skidmore's leading scorer finishing with 17 points.
The Thoroughbreds finish the year at 16-10.
