Albright 94, Mount St. Mary 84

READING, Pa — Albright advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 94-84 win over Mount St. Mary's Thursday night. Junior forward Trevor Deeter had 27 points and 18 rebounds to pace the Lions.

Albright led throughout the first half, its largest lead coming with just under eight minutes left after Matt Kieselowsky drained a three-point shot to put the Lions in front 26-17. Mount St. Mary's came right back with an 11-4 run, capped by a three-point play from Roberto King, to cut the Albright lead to 30-28 with 5:20 remaining until intermission. The Blue Knights pulled within one on two occasions inside of a minute to play in the half, but a pair of free throws from Deeter ended the scoring with Albright on top 45-42. Deeter led all scorers with 16 points at the break, while Sergio Guzman had 11 for Mount St. Mary's.

Albright opened the second half with five quick points, getting a three from Elu Lawrence and a fast-break lay-up from Matt Kieselowsky to open an eight-point lead, 50-42. After a pair of King free throws for the Blue Knights, the Lions scored nine unanswered points to open up a 15 point lead, 59-44, three and a half minutes into the second half. The lead bounced between 13 and 18 for Albright over the next eight minutes, and stood at 14, 78-64, with 7:39 left in the contest. Kieselowsky then scored five straight points to give Albright its largest lead of the night, 83-64, with seven minutes to play. The Blue Knights were not ready to fold, however, going on a 13-1 run over the next 4:30 to cut the Lion edge to seven, 84-77, with 2:25 showing on the clock. Sophomore Mike Hoyt had 11 of the 13 points in the run for the Knights. Albright sealed the win at the foul line, hitting eight straight and 10-14 in the final two minutes to hold on for the win.

For Albright, Deeter's 27 were followed by Kieselowsky and Andy Winebrenner with 14 points each. Kieselowsky was one assist shy of a double-double, finishing with nine on the evening. Guzman led Mount St. Mary's with 19, followed by King with 16 and Hoyt with 15. Hoyt had six assists and Guzman nine rebounds for the Blue Knights. Albright's bench outscored Mount St. Mary's bench 34-19 in the game.
