Lehman (21-6) overcame a sluggish start, in which the Lightning didn't score a point until the 13:17 mark of the game. Lehman who trailed 12-0, went on an 11-0 run to make the game interesting. The two teams exchanged leads, until the final minutes of regulation. After a Violet turnover, Lehman received the ball with 2.2 seconds remaining, and Jorge looking to avenge two foul shots the senior had missed a minute earlier. WIth a NYU defender drapped over Jorge, the senior hoisted a shot that sent Lehman into the semi-finals.
Lehman was led by the play of 2004-05 CUNY conference Most Valuable Player Sekani Francis. Francis led the Lightning with 22 points, to go along with 14 rebounds before fouling out with 3:15 remaining in overtime. Francis converted two free throws with 3.7 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. Jorge finished the contest with 14 points.
NYU (16-10) was led by forward Jeff Gilkerson who led the Violets with 16 points, and guard Matt Basford chipped in with 15 points.
Up next for Lehman is an ECAC semi-final match-up with the winner of the Farmingdale State vs, Kean College match-up being played later tonight.
