Cardinal Stritch 72, Milwaukee Engineering 42

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The MSOE men's basketball team was limited to 18 first-half points as Cardinal Stritch went on to win Monday's non-conference affair, 71-42, at the Kern Center.

The Wolves clamped down on the Raiders' Jeff Mikos, who was limited to three points in 29 minutes of action. Mikos was just recently named the Lake Michigan Conference player of the week after he posted a triple double against Edgewood College last Wednesday.

Stritch's Ronald Bell led all players with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting. teammate Marquelle Joyner added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Wolves were dominant on the glass, out-rebounding the Raiders 48-29.

Leading MSOE was Scott Murphy who wound up with nine points.

The Raiders made just 26.2 percent of their shots while Stritch was 28-of-65 from the field (43.1 percent).

Mikos tried to fulfill his role in other ways, coming up with three steals and six assists. But MSOE could not recover from its early hole. The Wolves went into halftime with a 32-18 advantage.

Other players contributing in a losing effort for MSOE were Robert Verdun, who had eight points, and Neil Trainor, who scored seven points.

Stritch, which is leading the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, improved its record to 16-10 on the season.
MSOE dropped to 8-12 overall.

The Raiders will host Lincoln Christian on Wednesday (7 p.m.) and will resume conference play when they travel to Maranatha Baptist on Saturday (1 p.m. tip-off).
