Bennett tossed in a game-high 27 points, while Kalsow countered with 21. Only three other players scored for the Pointers (17-2, 9-2), with Eric Maus getting next best honors at eight points. Maus rectified any scoring deficiencies by pulling down 11 rebounds. Bennett, Kalsow and Maus accounted for 30 of Stevens Point's 31 first half points.
The Pointers carried a lead through most of the first half, with Stout finally pulling ahead with three minutes left in the half on a 3-pointer by Adam Chandler. Stout (12-5, 7-3) carried a 33-31 lead into the locker room, then held that through the first five minutes of the second half when cold shooting set in.
Stout finished the half shooting only 27 percent and shot 35 percent for the game. The Pointers nursed a five to six to seven point lead for much of the rest of the game, then shot ahead by double-digits late in the game.
Chandler led Stout with 16 points, while fellow freshman Ryan Stangl finished with 10 points after scoring eight in the first half.
Stout will host UW-Oshkosh, Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
