Hartford, Conn. — Sophomore forward
Eileen Flaherty (Fairfield, Conn.) scored a game-high 27 points to lead the visiting Bowdoin College Polar Bears to a 75-58 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s basketball action this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity falls to 9-8 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC with its first loss in three games, while the Polar Bears, ranked No. 1 in the nation, improve to 16-1 overall and 4-1 in the league.
Bowdoin dominated the boards, out rebounding Trinity by almost a two to one margin, 49-25. Senior center
Erika Nickerson (Benton, Maine) led the charge with nine rebounds, while
Julia Loonin (New York, N.Y.) added seven.
Sophomore
Catherine Maher (Newtown, Conn.) scored 14 points to lead the Bantams, and senior
Jessica Baker (Middlebury, Conn.) chipped in 11 points in the losing cause.
