Jake Phillips added 15 points and four assists for Carleton (11-7, 9-4 MIAC), who swept the season series from the Johnnies for second consecutive season. For Beste, it marked his third straight game of scoring 20 points or more and the seventh time this season he’s reached the 20-point mark.

Carleton never trailed, racing to an early 16-4 and finished the half with an 8-1 spurt, with Beste accounting for all right points. The Knights expanded the lead to 24 right out of the locker room. SJU pulled within 11 as Jesse Ellens scored on the break, Scott Schafer tipped in a miss and Ohme drilled a three. The Knights responded with a Phillips triple, two Anthony Baquero free throws after technical foul on the SJU bench as the Knights put the game away for their fifth win in the last six outings.
SJU held a 46-26 advantage on the glass, outscoring Carleton 19-1 on second-chance points. Carleton, however, balanced it out by limiting its turnovers to seven while forcing the visitors into 21 miscues, as the Knights held a 20-8 spread in points off turnovers. Carleton held SJU to 34.5 percent shooting, including 2-for-15 from three-point range. SJU was 1-of-4 from the free-throw line compared to 11-for-14 for the Knights.
