Sophomore center Terrin Johnson (Curtis / Brooklyn, NY) had a season-high 20 points and 10 rebounds in the victory to lead the Yellow Jackets (12-5). City Tech led 39-35 at the half and extended the lead to 61-47 midway through the second stanza before letting the Cougars creep back into the contest. Actually the home squad was 13-13 from the free throw line in the first half while the visitors were 0-5. In the second half, City Tech reversed their fortune with a paltry 11-23 performance, while Medgar Evers went 4-5.
City Tech sophomore Kareem Hanley (Canarsie / Brooklyn, NY) had 15 points and five assists. Sophomore forward Otis Saylee (Seward Park / New York, NY) had his best all-around game of the season, notching a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, while shooting 8-11 from the foul line. The backcourt of junior guard Clyde Forteau (St. Raymond's / Bronx, NY) and senior Nkosi Hamilton (August Martin / Queens, NY) scored 14 and 11 respectively.
Newcomer Kevin Broadus (Brooklyn, NY) led the Cougars (5-15, 2-8 CUNYAC) with 18 points, leading five players in double digits. Sophomore center Verdayne Townsend (John Jay / Brooklyn, NY) had 12 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out for MEC.
