McMurry 80, Texas Lutheran 58

ABILENE, Texas — Elijah Bryant came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points and a trio of McMurry players each had 11 points as the Indians surprisingly handled Texas Lutheran 80-58 Saturday afternoon at Kimbrell Arena. The Indians, who are unbeaten in eight home games this season, improved to 14-4 overall and maintained their two-game lead atop the American Southwest Conference West Division standings. The Bulldogs (11-7), meanwhile, dropped three games back of the Indians at 10-5.

Bryant nailed four of McMurry's six 3-pointers, and Travis Tennison, Cole Dickerson and J.R. Williams joined him in double figures.

McMurry led wire-to-wire while shooting 49.2 percent on 30-of-61 field goals. The Indians also dominated the boards at 43-26.

Tommy Stolhandske scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and grabbed five rebounds for the Bulldogs. Will Hudson chipped in nine points and Hunter Holsonback had eight.

After McMurry led 34-25 at the half, Texas Lutheran eventually closed to within 46-43 with 11 minutes to go. But the Indians responded on a 10-2 run over a 3-minute, 46-second span to make it 56-45, keyed by Williams' six points during that time. The Bulldogs couldn't recover after that and trailed by as many as 24 points.
