Lycoming 83, Drew 63

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted Drew University, Saturday evening, for a Freedom Conference tilt. The Warriors built a double-digit lead in the first half and cruised to an 83-63 victory over the Rangers that snapped a two-game losing skid. Lycoming improves to 13-5 overall and 4-3 within the conference. Drew falls to 2-16 and 0-7.

The Warriors used a 14-0 run midway through the first period to break a 12-12 tie and take control of the contest. Leading by 12 at halftime, Lycoming extended their advantage to as many as 29 in the second half on the strength of 65% shooting.

Jonathan Pribble was the Warriors’ leading scorer with 31 points, including five three-pointers. Kevin Morris added 13 points, and Patrick Baylor came off the bench to chip in 10 points. Brad Musser led the squad with seven assists, and David Pearson recorded a career-high six blocks.

Shaun Morris added five assists in the game and is now Lycoming’s all-time leader in career assists with 318. Morris broke the old record of 314 at the 7:55 mark of the first half when Pribble drained a three-pointer off a screen. The previous standard was held by Coley Crouse who played for the Warriors from 1994 to 1998. Crouse was in attendance at the game and presented Morris with a game ball when the record was broken.

The Rangers were led by Chris Lopez with 23 points, including 10-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line.

Lycoming will be at home again on Monday, January 31, when they host FDU-Florham for another conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
