Greensboro 69, Shenandoah 62

GREENSBORO, N.C. - — Greensboro College erased a double digit second half deficit Saturday afternoon to defeat USA South Conference co-leader Shenandoah 69-62.

The win for the Pride (6-11, 2-3 USA South) continues a string dating back 10 years in which the two teams have alternated victories in Hanes Gymnasium. GC has won every odd year contest from 1995 to the present while Shenandoah (12-6, 4-1 USA South) has won in every even year.

The Hornets led 46-35 with 12:41 remaining and 48-38 a minute later, but GC gradually chipped into the SU lead until the score was 54-52 Shenandoah at the 6:59 mark.

Shenandoah held the lead for another 3:47 before Sean Newton gave the hosts a lead they would not relinquish on a three-pointer, the Pride's third of the half, with 3:04 left.

SU would miss all six of its field goal attempts in the remaining time, including three from behind the arc. Shenandoah was 0 for 7 in three-point shots in the second half and just 2 for 14 for the game.
