Bridgewater State 81, Fitchburg State 59

Fitchburg, MA — Peter Santos (Fairhaven/Bishop Stang) scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Bridgewater State registered a 81-59 conference road win at Fitchburg State on Saturday afternoon. The Bears improved to 10-8 overall (4-2 MASCAC) while the Falcons dropped to 3-15 (1-5 MASCAC) on the season.

After opening a 40-26 halftime advantage, Bridgewater State kept FSC at bay by shooting a blistering 56.5% (13 for 23) from the floor during the second stanza. David Rukstalis (Norwood, MA) was the only other Bear to score in double figures as he notched 14 points. Senior point guard Brain Adamczyz (Chicopee, MA) found it was better to give then to receive as he dished out 9 assists without commenting a turnover on the afternoon.

Fitchburg State had three players in double digits lead by Jim Prignano (West Hartford/Northwest Catholic) who ended the night with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Brian Torres (North Dighton/Dighton-Rehoboth) and Dan Largesse (Sutton, MA) registered 12 and 11 points respectively for FSC.

Both squads return to action on Tuesday when the Falcons welcome Worcester State to Fitchburg while Bridgewater State travels to Western Mass to face Westfield State.
