MADISON, NJ – FDU senior center Chris Hendershot (Vernon, NJ) came up with a big play to give the Devils a 70-67 win. With eight seconds left in the game and the Devils ahead 68-67, he blocked a three-point shot taken by Scranton guard Randy Arnold from the wing, chased down the rebound at mid-court and raced the remainder of the floor for a lay-up to put the Devils up by the final tally of 70-67.
Scranton’s Darren Cannon got out a tightly-contested three-pointer from about 25 feet out, but it was short and off to the right side of the rim.
The College at Florham Devils improve to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the Freedom Conference and avenge an earlier 69-67 loss to the Scranton Royals on the road. Scranton won that game on a tip-in with 2.8 seconds to play. Scranton drops to 13-4 overall and 4-3 in the Freedom.

By comparison, FDU was able to hold Scranton to 22 points in the second half, as they connected on just eight of 29 shots from the floor (39.3 percent) and went 2-for-15 on three pointers after making 6-of-13 in the first half.
On the night, the Devils got 36 of their points in the paint, compared to Scranton’s 22.
For FDU, Hendershot led the way with 26 points and 11 rebounds, both game-highs. He made 8-of-11 from the floor. Sophomore forward Pierre Schmitt (Park Ridge, NJ) added 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
For Scranton, Cannon led the way with 18 markers. Brian O’Donnell added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds, but was held to 4-for-12 shooting from the floor.
