Elms 79, Becker 51

CHICOPEE, Ma. — Elms College senior guard Kyle Seyboth (Seekonk, MA) scored a team-high 12 points to become the third player in team-history to surpass 1,000 career points, and the Blazers had all 11 players score en route to a 79-51 win over Becker College in Saturday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Seyboth reached the career milestone with his first shot of the game – a 3-pointer from the top of the key 3:04 into the game. With his 12-point performance on Saturday, Seyboth (1,009 points) surpassed Heath Churchill ‘02 (1,008) as the program’s second all-time leading scorer. Damien Bradley ’02, the program’s all-time leading scorer, finished with 1,158 points in four seasons from 1998-2002.

The Blazers (12-6 overall, 7-2 NAC) took command right from the opening tip with a 27-7 run in the first 10 minutes en route to their fourth straight victory. The Hawks committed 27 turnovers and lost their fourth straight game to fall to 2-16 overall, 1-8 NAC.

In addition to Seyboth, three other players reached double figures for the Blazers in Saturday’s victory. Sophomore guard Justin Davis (Dix Hills, NY) and junior forward Lonnie Branyon III (West Haven, CT) netted 11 points apiece, while freshman forward Nathan Hawes (New Hope, MN) finished with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Junior center Jeff Kotkowski (Melrose, MA) led all players with a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks in the loss.

Sophomore guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) added eight points and a game-high nine assists for the Blazers, who shot 61.3-percent in the first half to open up a 49-20 lead at intermission.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Thursday, February 3 at Framingham State College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
